Beavers Scouts – Beavers are young people usually aged between 6 and 8 years old. Young people can join in the 3 months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next section, Cub Scouts, between 7½ years old and 8½ years old.

Colony – Beavers meet together in their section which is known as a Beaver Scout ‘Colony’.

Lodges – Beavers may be split into smaller groups called ‘Lodges’ to carry out activities and tasks together.

Nights Away – Our Colony aims to organise at least one residential event per year, known as a ‘Night Away’ from home.

Beaver leaders

All of our leaders are trained volunteers, working to make sure Scouting is safe, inclusive and accessible. Some lead the Colony week in and week out. Others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills. No matter how much time you have to spare, find out about volunteering on your own terms.
