When a Scout in the Troop approaches the age of 14, it is time for them to move on to the next section of Scouting: Explorer Scouts. Explorer Scouting is for the 14-18 year old age group, however Young people may join Explorer Scouting at 13½ and leave between 17½ and 18 years old to either join the Scout Network, a Scout Active Support Unit, become a leader or volunteer in some other way. Explorer Scout Units are run by Altside Scout District and so are not the direct responsibility of the Scout Group. However, we seek to support Altside Explorers as best we can as it is an exciting step for Scouts to join the District Explorers. For more information, visit the Altside District website. For other information please visit the national Explorer pages. Explorer Scouts can also be Young Leaders with the younger sections (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts), and we will happily welcome any enthusiastic Young Leader into our Scout Group. If you're interested in a Young Leader placement with the Scout Group, contact us at: |
